membership

becoming a member at Oaks Church

Membership is for those who call Oaks their church home. Our members believe that God has called them to share in the mission of making authentic disciples for Jesus in the Muncie area. The purpose of membership is to help us know whom we can depend on and to help individuals grow spiritually through commitment and accountability.

Here are steps that you can take as you begin thinking about becoming a member at Oaks Church.

  • Attend New Member Month (offered in both the Fall & Spring).

  • Meet with a pastor to discuss membership.

  • Fill out and agree to the Membership Commitment Form.

  • Before becoming a member, we encourage you to come to our Team Oaks meetings, attend a small group, and/or get involved in a serving team. All of these can happen before you officially become a member.

New Member Month

The New Member Month is designed to help you understand more about who we are, how you can mature as a follower of Jesus, and how you can be involved in what God is doing here. We typically offer New Member Month once during the fall semester and once during the spring semester. After completing the New Member Month Sessions, we invite you to fill out a membership commitment form and set up a time to meet with one of our pastors and discuss your interest in being a member of Oaks Church.

  • Session 1: Oaks Church Beliefs on the Bible, God, Jesus, and Salvation

  • Session 2: Oaks Church Beliefs on Maturity, Forgiveness, Confession, Gender, and Sexuality

  • Session 3: Oaks Church Beliefs about Christian Service and Spiritual Gifts

  • Session 4: Oaks Church Beliefs on Involvement and Membership Commitments

Dates for Fall 2026: October 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th from 1-3PM
